Join Willetta Heising, award-winning author, for a talk about the conventions of romantic and mystery fiction, including their many similarities. If you’ve ever thought that “Happily Ever After” and “Mystery Solved” had something in common, this discussion is for you.

Everyone's Reading 2012
February 1 – March 22, 2012

Everyone’s Reading is a community wide reading program sponsored by Metro Detroit public libraries in Oakland and Wayne counties. Everyone’s Reading promotes community dialogue through the shared experience of reading and discussing the same book. Additional programming, related to issues and topics in the selected book, is offered to enhance the reading experience.

This year’s Everyone’s Reading selection is Lethal by Sandra Brown. Please join us by checking out a copy of the book and participating in our upcoming programs. You may also enter our drawing for tickets to the author appearance to hear Sandra Brown speak about her life and award winning work.

Friends of the Library-Dearborn (FOLD) Present On the Ways in Wyandotte with Keith Steffke

Keith M. Steffke is a nationally recognized regional historian, maritime lecturer, archivist and writer. He is known for researching, documenting and constructing distinctive models of early, obscure vessels form the once thriving shipbuilding industry of southeastern Michigan. He will present a history of the pioneer iron shipyard of Wyandotte, Michigan.

Take Advantage of the Dearborn Library!

We are purchasing additional copies of ebooks and e-audio books specifically for our cardholders' use. Here's how to find the titles: Go to the Digital Catalog and Download Center and LOGIN first, even before you begin searching for titles. Logging in with your Dearborn library card number and PIN sets up the digital catalog to display the titles that have been purchased as additional copies. Look for items with the a and gold check mark Small Overdrive Advantage Logo. Place your hold. You will receive email notification when your hold is available for download. As an example, Dearborn has purchased an additional copy of all formats of The Help specifically for our patrons. So don't let the long wait list scare you off. The Advantage titles allow us to give our patrons a "boost" up the long lists. We have purchased many titles and more are being added daily. Take a Look and Take Advantage!

New Fax Service now available!

We now offer fax service at Henry Ford Centennial Library! Domestic faxes are $1.50 for the first page, $1.00 for each additional page. International faxes are $4.95 for the first page, $3.45 for each additional page. The machine only sends outgoing faxes and only accepts payment via credit card. The fax machine is located on the second floor of the Henry Ford Centennial Library in our Copy Center area.

Tax Forms

The Henry Ford Centennial Library has received the Federal, State & City of Detroit tax forms and instructions. No reproducible forms for the Federal or City of Detroit have been received. State of Michigan reproducible forms are available. Due to April 15th being on a Sunday, the deadline for filing taxes is April 17, 2012.

Below are links to various Tax websites. Not all cities and states have 2011 forms available as of yet; however, many Federal and the State of Michigan forms are currently available online:


Library Processing Fee
Effective January 1, 2012, a $3.00 processing fee will be added for each lost and/or damaged item on all cardholder accounts. This fee will cover the costs associated with removing the lost or damaged item from the collection, and if necessary, adding a new copy to the collection. We appreciate your help in keeping the library's collection in excellent condition for everyone to use and enjoy.
