Once you have selected the materials you would like to check out, bring them to the Circulation Desk with your library card. The staff member will scan your library card and the barcode of each item you have selected. You will receive a receipt that shows each title that you have checked out and the date it is to be returned to the Library. If you lose your receipt, you can check your due dates on our computer, by phone at 943-3091or call the library for help.
Most circulating material can be renewed up to two times if there is not a waiting list.
Click here for specific information on check out periods, limits and overdue charges.
All Dearborn Public Libraries have book return drops that are open 24 hours for your convenience.
All overdue fines will be listed on your patron record. Anytime those fines reach $5.00 or more, you must pay before you will be allowed to check out materials. Notices of overdue material are mailed after 7 days. If you receive a notice and are certain you have returned the materials, please notify the library immediately. Patron accounts with excessive fines or overdue material will be referred to a collection agency, and a collection fee will be added. A $30 fee will be charged for checks returned for insufficient funds.
Every year we update the information in your record. We require you to present a piece of current identification with your address. You must resolve any fines or lost material before your card can be updated. If your old card is worn or damaged, a new card can be issued free of charge. However, if your old card is lost, there may be a charge to replace it.
You were assigned a PIN (Personal Identification Number) when your library card was issued. You may change your PIN at any time to any number you prefer. If you don't know your PIN, please call any library, you will be asked to provide additional information to verify your identity.
